  • A foreign domestic worker should have a security deposit of S$5,000 in the form of an insurance guarantee or from a banker along with the approval letter of the work permit department from MOM.
  • The foreign domestic worker’s age eligibility should be between 18 years and 50 years at the time of submitting the work permit application.
  • The foreign domestic workers must obtain a certificate of fitness for employment by a registered doctor of Singapore within 14 days of arrival. After that, the individual should undergo a medical screening test for HIV, VDRL, and pregnancy once in six months. In the case of failing to undergo medical examinations, the worker would be repatriated without any kind of exceptions.
  • If you have provided a valid foreign domestic worker’s passport, then the validity period for the work permit is two years. If the worker is also certified as medically fit for employment and has not denied any work permit condition, then the worker can work until 60 years of age in Singapore.
  • The employer should buy the accident insurance of domestic workers with a minimum amount of S$10,000 which can benefit them or their kin and it also covers up the hospital expenses.
  • The employer must pay S$345 as a monthly levy to the government of Singapore through GIRO deduction. The employers need not contribute to the CPF (Central Provident Fund) for the domestic workers.
  • The employer must set an agreement of terms and conditions with the foreign domestic workers in the form of a written contract mentioning wage, roles & responsibilities, duties, rest days and other employment terms and conditions. The employer should start a new bank account for crediting the wage of the domestic workers.
